Friday, March 25th
Friday was a good day for Skip. The staff dressed him in his own clothes and he had a Hawaiin shirt on and a new hat my brother in law brought him, he's an F18 fighter pilot instructor, so I'm sure it got Skip motivated. He again had a lengthy day with the therapists but from what I hear, it went well.
Annie visited with him in the evening and he was lively compared to the evening before, when he was with Jamie.
As we count the days since the stroke we are trying to find a physical sign or something clear that we can "notch up" as a sign of improvement. I think we will still see the signs but because we are watching him so closely, it's hard to see the clear signals that we can check off as improvement. He didn't have any backwards steps today but it was a busy day of therapy for sure. Some of the highlights included some walks with Mom, Dawn and Brian in the WHeelchair outside, and more therapy and Skip sporting his new hat. My mom let me know that he did something pretty funny. WHen the Therapist asked for Skip to write his name he did the following: First he wrote Frank Lee Crist, then under that he wrote Skip Crist, then under that he wrote Bonzo...
So we definitely got a kick out of that. In closing for today, my mom said that Skip again has been wearing off on the staff...which I knew wouldn't take long. All of the Staff love him and say that he helps them with everthing, from them coming into his room and having to do something, to helping them get him into the wheelchair...
As I'm sure you've all seen and learned from Skip, he's always very polite and ultra cautious about others and making sure he's considerate, helpful and keeping others in mind. We can rest easy at night knowing that the care at Dominican cares about such a caring man...
Thanks again for your love and support!
